Stay legal
January 2009
Ever since January 2007, the Companies Act (UK) has required that you include the following in your email footers:
- Company registration number
- Place of registration
- Registered office address
Why are we reminding you now – two years later? Well, it’s because we like the cut of your jib, and we don’t want you to get fined. We still see a surprising number of emails that omit these details...
Feel free to look at
our email footer to get an idea of how to present your own company information.
Websites
You may be relieved to hear that, while you have to include all of this information on your website, you don’t have to include it on every single page. We include our own details on our
contact page, which keeps the rest of our website clutter-free.
However, you should make sure that you include:
- Your company name in full (not just your trading name)
- Your email address (not just a contact form)
- Your VAT number (if you have one)
