Meet our new team

Over the past couple of months, some exciting changes have been taking place behind the scenes at Resonates – we’ve welcomed three new faces to our team!

Now they’ve settled in, we thought we’d take the time to properly introduce our wonderful newbies – Justin, Susan and Carmen.

Meet Justin, Corporate Affairs Specialist

Justin is Resonates’ most recent addition, joining the team in September as a corporate affairs specialist. He brings 25 years of B2B, community, political and financial communications experience in the energy and utilities sector. This new role involves overseeing a range of Resonates’ clients and projects; especially those with a regulatory, investor or community focus.

Justin’s interest in energy and sustainability started early, having studied Geology at school and at Durham university, where he won an environmental award and was selected for Shell UK’s first overseas student placement – in Thailand. Since then, he has been involved in renewable energy and cleantech in both agency and in-house capacities. He spent over a decade working across global communications and branding groups, such as WPP and Omnicom, on technology, transport and manufacturing clients. He also held senior roles in financial PR and in-house at ENGIE; where he was involved in two global rebrands and in their innovation unit – partnering with academia and scouting for low carbon technologies.

Outside the office, Justin spends time with his wife and two teenage children renovating their Wiltshire home. Together, they manage two Airbnbs, on Salisbury Plain and the Aberdeenshire coast, where they enjoy walking and boating. Justin is a classic car enthusiast and a core member of the Stonehenge Traffic Action Group, where he coined their ‘SH2’ campaign for government funding to relieve congestion around the world heritage site.

Meet Susan, PR Consultant

Susan brings over 3 decades of experience in communications to Resonates. Having originally started her career in advertising at Saatchi & Saatchi, she went on to lead global and regional activities for large international blue-chip organisations. Over the past few years, she has worked as an independent media relations consultant, delivering editorial and broadcast coverage for a range of high-profile companies and non-profit organisations, particularly in the area of sustainability.

Susan’s focus is now mainly around energy transition and climate. As a PR consultant at Resonates, she helps guide clients on media strategy as well as helping to develop articles and opinion pieces that will catch the journalist’s eye.

She has an International MBA from Henley Business School which included periods of study and project work across Europe, Asia, Australia and the US. Susan is a true international, holding British, European and American passports.

When not working, Susan is a keen outdoor swimmer, travelling all over the world to take part in swimming events. She recently completed the Cross Continental Swim in Istanbul and now has her sights on crossing from Alcatraz to the San Francisco mainland in 2022.

Meet Carmen, Junior Account Executive

Fresh out of university, Carmen recently joined Resonates as our junior account executive. She works across multiple client accounts, supporting content production, social media management and various client PR activities.

She holds a BA degree in History and Sociology from the University of Leeds, during which she spent a year studying abroad in Canada. After graduating in 2020, she worked in marketing for a food company before joining us in August.

Carmen has a black belt in kickboxing and in her spare time enjoys volunteering with Give Your Best, a non-profit connecting pre-loved clothes with women from asylum seeking and refugee backgrounds.

We hope you’ve loved getting to know our new team members as much as we have.
