Sector credentials: port and maritime infrastructure

The sector

Port and maritime infrastructure sits where several demanding disciplines meet: marine and nearshore civil engineering, specialist plant and vessels, high-voltage grid connections, and the commercial and regulatory structures that hold a project together. Whether the work is strengthening a quay wall, landing a subsea cable, dredging a channel or electrifying port operations, it calls on more than one specialism at once. Resonates works across that entire landscape, which means we understand the sector, its language and its decision-makers from the inside.

"Port and nearshore projects are complex, and communicating them requires both technical understanding and the ability to communicate clearly. As part of the Saline group, we bring deep experience of the maritime sector, working with businesses across the whole ecosystem. We understand our marine clients’ world, and how to communicate for success both within it and beyond."

Hannah Thame Operations Director Resonates

The challenge

Water adds a degree of complexity to any project. Port, marine and inland projects all combine hostile working environments with factors such as tight tidal and operational windows, demanding clients and – increasingly – the pressure to electrify and decarbonise. Meeting these challenges takes marine engineering capability, independent network expertise and smart commercial thinking. Communicating them credibly takes a partner who understands all three.

Experience across the ecosystem

Resonates works with clients across the marine, port and energy ecosystem, from the seabed to grid connection:

  • Marine civil engineering and plant. We work with Ancora Group, whose businesses deliver marine civil engineering, specialist vessel and marine plant hire, and erosion and scour protection – supporting work at and below the waterline in some of the most demanding environments around the UK coast, and on inland waters and infrastructure such as rivers, reservoirs and flood defences.
  • Cable landings and marine construction. Our work has included GreenC Marine, a marine engineering and construction specialist spanning dredging, marine piling, marine structures, cable landings and coastal protection – the kind of work that puts subsea power cables ashore and keeps ports operational.
  • Independent networks. We work with several independent distribution network operators (IDNOs) including Eclipse Power, and a leading independent connection provider. IDNOs now deliver a large share of new and upgraded grid connections to projects ranging from data centres to port electrification – often faster and more flexibly than incumbents.
  • Marine renewables and the wider transition. Through the Saline Group, we connect to deep experience across marine renewables, offshore wind, dredging and specialist marine engineering – the businesses already building the maritime future.

Why it matters for your communications

The marine industry doesn’t have time for waffle. Technical claims must be accurate, sourcing has to stand up, and the language has to land with an audience of experts. We turn complex, multi-disciplinary infrastructure into clear, credible communications that build authority and reach the right people.

“Few agencies can claim experience across the whole marine, nearshore, inland and energy ecosystem. We can. From marine renewables and offshore wind to dredging, marine construction and specialist engineering, Saline has spent years building relationships and businesses across the sector. As part of the group, Resonates brings the communications expertise to get our clients heard, shaping the right messages for the right time and place.”
